Malam Kesenian @ University Kebangsaan Malaysia

.290208.

Today is definitely one of the most special day in four years coz its 29th Feb, making 2008 a leap year and 366 dayz in total. It is also a very special day for the Christian Fellowship Society of UKM for having their Malam Kesenian at the Chansellor Hall.

It was my first visit to UKM and I reached at about 4.30pm. Thanks Xian Yin for bringing me for a short UKM tour. =D It's as huge as UM i think, or maybe bigger. I really do not know. Later at 5pm Swe Jyan brought me into the hall and I helped out abit with their door gifts and also the registeration booth's poster sticking. Supposingly helped as usher though but decided not to in the end.. Hahaha... Luckily I brought my camera along so I decided to just do some shootings. I can see that all the working committee and performers are preparing really well for that night event though.

The event started off at about 8.45pm with the arrival of VIP (and the usual agenda goes on..) The real thing begun with a choir performance by African Student Choir Group. Their music and songs were simply awesome, especially a very fast rap part done by one student.

Next on the list was a band performance done by the local students. The lead singer, whom I think is a Sabahan UKM girl cheered up the crowd by teaching them how to greet people in Sabahan language and also Chinese. It was kinda cool tho and one of the songs they performed which I like very much was "Unfailing Love" by Chris Tomlin. The crowd joined in the songs and after that was another dance performance by a group of young people as well.

The main highlight of that night is of course performance by the drama team consisting of UKM students themselves. Their drama aimed to express the meaning of Love to the audience and I must give credits to them for successfully doing so by the end of their drama. *applause* I was indeed touched by their performance and I could say a job well done!!

That night did not end there as the MC promised us with a special performance. It was a hip hop group all the way from UTAR that took over the stage after the drama and they really blasted the crowd with their acrobatic moves with unity to the music. COOOOOOLL~!! That superb performance officially closed the event for that night and I think everyone left with a very meaningful message planted into their hearts.

Shared Grief is Half the Sorrow, Happiness Shared is Doubled

"Something meaningful i read this morning and I thought it would be great to share with some of you that has never read this before"

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

dunieta
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present"

17 Hours of ZZzzZzzzZzzz.....

.240208.
It has been a long long while since I last slept for so damn long...~ came home from rafting last night around 4pm and throw myself onto the bed without thinking twice. So i was super duper tired and my mind has nothing else but to zzzzzz.... coz the previous night before rafting i did not sleep at all.... =D hahahaha.... sendiri asking for trouble..

When I woke up from my sleep it was already 4am.... My whole body was so lethargic and aching that I had no choice but to continue lying down and sleep.. Can't do anything much, and the next time I got up was 9am! Basically i slept for approximately 17 hours. Since church was just an hour away, i woke up and wash up and prepare myself.

Sis was on da stage doing worship leading tho! Her first experience.. Good job and praise the Lord! =D

Water Rafting Part #2

-Continuation from previous post-

..... Stage 1 was over! Was kinda relieved a lil after the super syok but a lil scary + lil pain fall into the water. After that we were all kinda ready and know what to do if we were to overturn again! =D hehe... Next my raft went through another normal rapid but somehow, thanks to VICTOR who's gonna belanja makan on Monday, we overturn again but this time all of us were alert enough to react when we fell into the river. hehe... *like what my instructor said, our raft will experience the most overturn* hahaha... which he enjoys alot!

2nd stage 4 came and once again the rescuers get into their positions to prepare rescuing rafters. This time, all the rafts went through safely and we were through to the final challenge of level 5 rapid up ahead. Somehow we felt a lil disappointed for not falling coz we were kinda like prepared for it!! hahaha...~ somemore pay so much and never fall... sien-nyer...~

Level 5 came, and it was our FINAL THOUGHEST CHALLENGE!! In fact my intructor told my group that it was a 90% guaranteed overturn challenge. I was seriously a lil worried but aso ready to face it! I was looking forward to the overturning part and try to figure out what I gonna do to get rescued as soon as possible. We were the last raft to go and once again my guide told us that Jon's raft overturned and waiting for our turn.

PADDLE OFF WE GO!! We paddled forward hard and then "sit in pull rope" as instructed!! Our guides front and back did well and we crashed down hard on the first rapid fall and Chee Wai lost his balance and slipped off from the raft into the river. I couldn't do much but just pull back hard on the rope of the left side of the raft... Just before the 2nd rapid fall of the route. Within that split second super short moment we manage to spot Chee Wai and the front rescuer managed to pull him back up on the raft. Just at the edge of the 2nd fall we quickly "sit in pull rope" again and... SPLASHHHED!!! We made it through that stage safely!! All of us cheered out loud for the super chun ride although we had a split second victim... hehehehe.... But the best part was me managed to pull through the thoughest stage...

My thought was since we paid RM170, CheeWai purposely fall off at the final stage to make his RM worthwhile!! hahahahaha...~ But he kept denying it..~ Anywayz after that final stage we then cruised slowly on the raft towards the end point which was about 25 minutes away. We went through a few normal rapids which we had no problems facing them... At the calmer water current, we throw ourselves into the river and allow the current to wash us along the route. We had alot of fun though as the current pushed us as we float ourselves on the water.

We truly had an adventurous, enjoyable, and fun time in KKB. However, a question popped up. "Are we ever going to raft again in the future?" Well, that question can only be answered when the time comes. And it really depends on individual!! Well done to Chia Ling who overcame her fobia of water and also her challenge of not knowing how to swim. Thanks to the rest who took care of her as well. I really had a hard time persuading her to go tho...

*3,2,1, chik-chak*

*yeahooo!! well done guyzz*

A Must Once In a Lifetime Experience!!

.230208. Water Rafting @ Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB)

D-Day has finally arrived! After weeks of talking about, planning and stuffs, its finally time for a water rafting trip to KKB.

Who was there: Daniel, JyhYian, Brian, Jon, SherYee, Grace, Johnyee, Melvyn, WaiLin, Victor, ChiaLing, CheeWai and myself.

All of us gathered at 5.45am and the "late comer", as I dont mention names, (VIC) is suppose to belanja lunch on Monday! 13 of us left at about 6.15 from Cyberia and headed for Restoran Jejantas Sg Buloh for a "light breakfast". We then continued our journey to KKB using the Tg Malim exit (which is slighty further I know) coz was unsure about the Lembah Bringin and Bkt Beruntung way. We finally reached KKB town at about 8.20am.

*just arrived at the starting point*

All of us was very excited and we saw there were also other groups that was there, just like us, preparing for a whole new adventure and experience. We met up with Margy, the person in charge and followed her instructions as she directs us up to the starting point. The drivers (me, Dan, Vic) then have to drive all the way the end point and then followed Carine's truck back to the starting point and meet up with the rest.

We then put on our life jackets and helmets and each of us were given a paddle. The funny part was the guys put on a strap under from the back and hooked it onto the front hook which the guyz not supposed to. Only the girls were required to do so coz its too "dangerous" for the guyz. =D Margy gave us a quick but many instructions briefing before we could start. We split ourselves into one group of 5s (big raft) and two group of 4s (small raft).

*our equipment and gears*

Big raft: Chia Ling, Sher Yee, Grace, Brian, Melvyn
Small raft: Daniel, Johnyee, Wai Lin, Jyh Yian
Small raft: Victor, Chee Wai, Jon, myself (with a funny instructor that loves to overturn the raft)

Just as I thought I would be in deep trouble following that instructor, it was actually quite fun when we practised the overturning of the raft at the starting point and learning how to rescue our partners. We had a fun start though before facing the rapids and other challenges. JyhYian and Jon exchanged rafts for rescuing purpose

*let's do it!!* or *just do it*

Fun was over and the real journey begins!!

My partners now are CheeWai, Victor and JyhYian (exchanged with Jon) and here we go!! The first stage of the rapid was level 4. We had to go through that stage raft by raft and the rescuers get into their places preparing to rescue rafters. As all of us did not know what's going to happen or we weren't ready for any turnovers or wat not, we headed through that stage with full of excitement. Just as I thought it would be fun, my instructor came back telling me that the previous raft overturned and it's our turn now. As we were going through the level 4 rapids we paddled with power and followed the instructions carefully.

But...... *crashed* there my boat goes overturning in the middle of the rapid and we were fallen off our raft beneath the fast running currents and the next thing I know was I was being flushed down the river beneath the raft trying to find a room to breath and searching for the light. That short moment of "drowning" was really really an experience that I would never forget. Hitting the rocks and struggling to breathe, I finally found my way up to the air and THANK GOD!! The trick to get yourself floating is actually not to be panicked and relax yourself. hehhehe *tips from Jon when I was up* I quickly grabbed onto the ropes thrown by the rescuers and find grab on to the rocks climbing up to wait for everyone to be "saved"

All of us were talking about the first rapid, the overturn experience, feeling of being down the water and what not... We moved on and be more prepared for our next challenge!! Victor got the worst bruise, scratched his hands from the rocks during that overturn moment. I got a minor bang on the rocks and hurt my legs a little.

*to be continued*

Happy Chinese Valentines Day

.210208. Chap Goh Mei
It may be sweet for couples and families that celebrates this auspicious day. In those days and maybe some still practise, girls will go to the river and throw mandarin oranges with notes written on it. Hoping. Just hoping that their dream guy will get them at the end of the river. Well, it also marks the end of the 15 dayz long chinese new year celebration. Which also means tutuptable.com will take over bukatable.com for the next 350 dayz of the year. In year 2008, its the next 351 dayz for there will be 29 dayz in February (Just in case you don't know!)

University Malaya - CP08'

.200208.
Final year final semester! It's time to explore what are the openings or career opportunity that is available in the market. 5 years had already gone!! Just couldn't believe that time actually flies. Real fast. Just back then, in Malacca when we did our Alpha Engineering Course together. FOSEE Building. Bukit Beruang. Chicken Rice Ball. Mahkota Parade. Those were the dayz....

Time to face the reality of life. Its all about career and not just job or work. A career path that would bring all of us 20 years aheadand not just a year or two.

I always ask myself. In fact some of my friends do ask... What do I really wanna work as??? What is my future gonna be like? To be honest, I seriously do not know. I shall leave it to God's plan for me. But what I do really want is to work with people. And not practical engineering that I've been studying for all this while. Stupid? Not necessarily. Unless if fated, then I will just go on working and dealing with devices and what not.

UM had a Career Fair from 19-21 Feb. We were there today. Victor, Jon, Johnyee, Grace and I went together. Met some of the screwdrivers there and of course, Brian, Sherz and Jyh went earlier. It was a great exposure though to understand more about the market today.

Might opt for Accenture or GE training program though. Anywayz, that will be sometime laterz.. As for now, just wanna continue with my own works and looking for opportunity to excel in other businesses.

Happy Valentines Day!!

.140208.

Blessings are the things we take for granted.
Each holiday we notice what we see.
Most know the Earth is utterly enchanted
Yet walk through life and love mechanically.
Valuing one's gifts takes resolution
After days and nights of fantasy.
Love brings the sweet relief of absolution,
Enveloping our hesitance in need.
No touch inspires so swift a revolution,
Transforming all the hieroglyphs we read.
In your love is the charity of spring,
Nor self-obsessed nor blinded by some creed,
Embracing the grey dawns that blessings bring.

"I ain't a sweet person,
Hence, I have no sweet words for you,
I know today maybe the sweetest day,
for couples or even singles,
So here I am,
wishing all of you,
A very happy and blessed Valentines Day!!"
